At any point during the game, but most commonly when the ball is being returned to teh serving team for the next point, a player may make an unimpeded attempt to throw the ball into the opponent's cup so long as he remains behind the line of the net (otherwise a Shaffer is taking place). If the ball goes into the cup, the number of drinks that must be taken is equal to n+1, where n is the number of bounces that occured.
